Housing
With over eight years of council experience and her work as the chair of the land use committee of Community Board 11, Elsie brings a comprehensive understanding of housing and housing affordability. Elsie not only recognizes, but firmly believes, that it is essential to protect vulnerable populations from displacement which fosters stable communities and promotes social equity.
Elsie aims to create sustainable solutions that contribute to long-term community stability and resilience while enhancing the quality of life for all residents by:
Supporting deep affordability in development projects
Ensuring that housing remains accessible to all income levels
Providing funding and advocating for projects that align with the specific community needs
Acknowledging that wages, cultural institutions, and local businesses all play a vital role in the housing ecosystem
Youth & Education
Understanding the significant challenges facing the education system, Elsie is prepared to unite families, educators, and advocates to battle for the highest-quality education possible. With 11 years of impactful experience in education, Elsie is fiercely dedicated to creating opportunities for young people, placing youth development at the forefront of her priorities. Her impact includes:
Mentored countless youth, fostering their growth and leadership skills
Lead initiatives such as youth councils, which she plans to reinstate if elected to the council
Developed a platform to combat youth violence
Advocating and securing increased funding for youth programs that stimulate workforce development opportunities
Led the charge in revitalizing participatory budgeting in the district, with a specific focus on schools. Dedicating 2 Million dollars to Capital funding for schools in District 8.

Small Business & Economic Development
Small businesses are truly the heart and soul of our community; recognizing the vital role they play in creating jobs and providing essential services. Elsie believes in creating an environment where businesses can thrive.
In her current role Elsie has:
Supported street clean-ups which help keep our corridors clean
Advocated for investments in lighting and safety that contribute to a welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors.
Participated in the process of creating the 125th Street Business Improvement District (BID).
Worked alongside SBS to create job fairs, resume writing workshops and small business development fairs.
